Write the route before choosing the package
A route with Tbilisi, Yerevan and Baku is not the same purchase as a week in just one capital. List the countries where you will actually use mobile data, including any connection on the way in or out. Then compare the Caucasus regional eSIM with the country plans needed for that exact journey.
Horizon labels the product “Caucasus & Central Asia”. That name describes a product family, not the whole geography of either region. The live coverage panel and the selected package's country list determine what is included. Check flight, border and document requirements separately; a communications package does not make a physical route possible.
One regional plan or several country plans?
A regional allowance can be easier to manage when you move frequently: one installed profile and one plan to follow across its included destinations. Crossing a border does not automatically refill a shared balance or restart its validity.
Separate country packages may fit better when nearly all your time is in one country and another stop is brief. Compare the complete cost and usable validity, not just starting prices. Also check whether a public offer is one-time and whether your account is eligible.

Separate installation from activation
Install through reliable Wi-Fi before leaving and label the travel line clearly. Current Horizon Caucasus packages do not require a separate manual activation step: the first successful connection to a supported network in an included destination starts the package and the selected validity. Keep the line disabled until you intend that to happen and check the purchased package's instructions.
At later stops, keep the profile installed and allow the phone time to find the next supported network. Automatic selection is the sensible starting setting unless the supplied instructions say otherwise. If registration stalls, check the selected data line, roaming setting and remaining package before trying a restart.
Keep your original number deliberately
On a compatible dual-line phone, one line can handle data while another remains available for calls or SMS. Name them differently. Select Horizon for mobile data and disable automatic switching to the home line. Your usual operator may still charge for calls, messages or roaming on its line.
A travel data package does not replace a local telephone number where an app requires one. Verify essential accounts before departure. Do not wait until the border to discover that a booking app needs a code on an unavailable number.
Plan for the gaps between cities
Keep downloadable copies of accommodation details, tickets and route notes. Mountains and long stretches between settlements can affect reception independently of whether the country is included. Save both the address and a map pin for the next stop, and share changes of plan while connected.
Watch the shared allowance in My eSIMs. Operator reporting may lag actual use, so treat a recent video upload or laptop session as relevant even before every byte appears in the app. Check the eligible additional-plan options rather than assuming every installed eSIM can receive the same product.
Frequently asked questions
Does “Caucasus” mean all neighbouring countries?
No. Use the selected package's explicit list. A neighbouring country or a transit hub outside that list requires another supported option.
Do I need a new QR code at every border?
Not for a journey that stays within the purchased regional package's coverage. Keep its profile installed. An additional country package may have different installation requirements.
Can I pause validity during a flight or stop at home?
Do not assume validity pauses. Read the purchased plan's start and end rules and choose a period that covers the whole intended journey.
What if a country option is cheaper?
Compare the cost of all the separate packages you need, with matched validity and allowance. Regional convenience and price are separate considerations.
Where do I start if I cannot connect?
Check coverage, remaining data, the enabled data line and its roaming setting. Use Help before deleting an eSIM or changing advanced settings.
