Start with how you will travel
A few nights in Yerevan with day trips is a different connectivity problem from a longer journey that continues into Georgia. In the first case, one country plan may be enough. In the second, compare separate country plans with a regional package and check the actual country list.
Your main decisions are data allowance, the period you need it and whether the phone can use eSIM. A longer validity is not extra data, and a larger allowance does not automatically last longer.
A Yerevan base with day trips
Save your accommodation pin, return transport arrangements and the name of your driver before leaving the city. For Sevan, Dilijan or a longer visit to Gyumri, keep those details in a note that opens offline. You may need maps and messaging more often outside familiar streets, but mobile reception can vary by terrain and network conditions.

On a dual-line phone you can keep your usual SIM for calls and SMS. Turn off its data roaming and automatic data switching. Your original operator controls any charges on that line; buying a travel eSIM does not cancel them.

Adding Georgia or another stop
Before buying a regional package, write down every country, including transfers. The Caucasus eSIM only covers its listed destinations. Coverage is separate from the practical availability of a flight, road or border crossing: verify your itinerary and entry conditions independently.
For a trip that stays in Armenia, compare the country plan first. For a multi-country trip, compare total price and validity for the complete route rather than only the advertised starting offer.
Connection checks without guesswork
If data does not work, check that the package is active, has remaining data and includes your current location. Confirm that the travel line is enabled and selected for data. Follow the supplied roaming settings, try automatic network selection and reconnect using airplane mode. Move to a place with a stronger signal if possible.
If the issue remains, contact Horizon support with the order and the checks you completed. Keep screenshots of the settings, but do not post your QR code or activation details publicly.
Frequently asked questions
Is a local phone number included?
Treat the package as mobile data unless it explicitly states otherwise. Ordinary calls and SMS remain on your regular line; calling apps depend on an available data connection and their own rules.
Can I share the connection with a laptop?
Check the particular package and device. If hotspot use is supported, turn off automatic backups and updates before a long work session.
Does the validity pause when I leave Armenia?
Do not assume so. Read the purchased package's rules. Time spent between destinations may still use its validity period.
Do I need to reinstall when I add data?
Only follow the options offered for that specific eSIM. If an additional package is eligible, your account explains whether it uses the installed profile.
