The first connection matters most
The useful moment for mobile data is often before you reach your accommodation: checking a meeting point, messaging a driver or opening a booking. Save the address and arrival instructions before the flight, then prepare your travel line while reliable Wi-Fi is available. A working connection later should make arrival easier, rather than being the only way to find your hotel.
A Georgia eSIM is one option alongside your existing operator's roaming and a local SIM. Compare the complete price and the included allowance. Language, nationality or the country that issued your phone number does not decide which option fits your trip.
Choose for your itinerary
For a stay centred on Tbilisi or Batumi, start with a country plan. Think about how often you use maps, send photographs and make video calls. Photo backups, updates and sharing data with a laptop may matter more than ordinary messaging. Check recent mobile-data use on your phone instead of treating a fixed gigabyte suggestion as a guarantee.
If Armenia or another country follows Georgia, compare the separate plans with the Caucasus regional eSIM. Check each stop in the exact package, including transit countries. A regional name does not determine border access or replace travel-document checks.

Install before leaving Wi-Fi
- Check the exact model and regional version on the compatible-devices page. The phone must also be unlocked for other operators.
- Purchase the selected package, then open the installation link or scan its QR code from another screen. Manual details are an alternative when available.
- Name the new line “Horizon — Georgia” so it is easy to recognise.
- Read the package's activation rule and first-use deadline. Installation and the start of validity are different events.
- At the destination, select Horizon for mobile data and follow the package's data-roaming instructions.
Keep the original SIM if you need your usual number, but turn off its mobile data and automatic data switching. Calls and SMS on that line may still incur charges from your home operator. See the installation instructions before changing advanced settings.
Cities and mountain roads need different preparation
In Tbilisi, save both the accommodation name and its map pin: an address can be less useful than the exact entrance on a small street. In Batumi, download onward travel details before leaving the accommodation, especially when a beach day turns into a longer excursion.
For a trip towards Stepantsminda or another mountain area, keep a downloaded map, the night's address, transport arrangements and important numbers on the phone. An eSIM does not remove terrain-related gaps or local outages. Share plans while connected and do not make a mobile signal the only source of route information.
If the phone has signal but no internet
Confirm that the active package covers Georgia and still has data and validity. Check that Horizon is selected for data, with roaming configured as instructed. Try automatic network selection, briefly toggle airplane mode, then restart if necessary. Do not delete the profile as a troubleshooting step. Use Help if the issue continues.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my existing WhatsApp number?
You can normally keep the account's existing number while using another line for data. Horizon's data package does not itself provide ordinary voice calls or SMS. Account verification and app access remain separate.
Will it work on every mountain road?
No continuous-service guarantee is possible. Consult the selected package's coverage and prepare offline information for remote sections.
Can I add Armenia to this purchase?
Compare the available Armenia plans or a regional package that explicitly includes both countries. Whether an extra plan can use the installed profile is shown in your account.
Should I buy the smallest advertised offer?
Check its allowance, validity and any one-time eligibility. The starting price alone does not tell you whether a package is suitable for your whole stay.
