A Canada-only holiday and a journey across the US border need different price comparisons. A cheaper country package may be enough for Toronto or Vancouver, but it does not automatically follow you into the United States. The amount you need on each side matters as much as the total number of gigabytes.
Prices checked 24 September 2026. Horizon includes instant support and free hotspot sharing. It has the lowest checked 5 GB and 10 GB Canada prices below, while Nomad costs less at 50 GB. Here is how those offers compare, including public sale prices and a separate regional option.
Canada: matching 30-day allowances
These are total data allowances for Canada, each valid for 30 days:
- Horizon Canada: 5 GB €7.08; 10 GB €13.98.
- Nomad: 5 GB €11.33; 10 GB €14.81, on public sale from €20.04.
- Airalo: 5 GB €16.50; 10 GB €21.00.
- Saily: 5 GB €15.99; 10 GB €27.49.
At 10 GB, Horizon is €0.83 below Nomad's sale price (€14.81 − €13.98). That is a small difference; compare the listed networks and your itinerary as well. A price comparison does not establish equal coverage or faster service.
For a larger allowance, Horizon lists 50 GB / 30 days at €69.18 and Nomad lists 50 GB / 30 days at €60.11. Nomad is €9.07 cheaper at that size. Horizon has no Canada 20 GB package in the checked catalog; Nomad's 20 GB / 30-day offer is €27.01, on sale from €33.98. Choose the allowance you actually need rather than assuming the smaller-plan price order applies to every tier.
Canada plus the USA: separate plans or shared data?
For an illustrative trip needing 5 GB in each country, two Horizon purchases cost:
- Canada: 5 GB / 30 days at €7.08.
- USA: 5 GB / 30 days at €5.27.
- Total: €12.35, with a separate 5 GB allowance and validity period for each country.
Nomad North America lists 10 GB / 30 days at €27.88, covering Canada, the USA and Mexico. That is a single regional pool: you can use more of it in one included country and less in another. The two Horizon purchases cost €15.53 less for the specific 5 GB + 5 GB example, but unused Canadian data does not become US data. The regional plan also includes Mexico, which those two country purchases do not.
For a trip needing 8 GB in Canada and only 2 GB in the USA, the same two 5 GB purchases would be the wrong allocation. Recalculate with suitable country allowances or compare a regional pool. Check the phone's supported eSIM setup and follow each product's activation instructions when changing the data line at the border.
Horizon's checked Global selection includes Canada, the USA and Mexico, but its 10 GB / 30-day price is €123.23. For that three-country route, Nomad's quoted regional 10 GB offer costs much less. Published networks and the route you will drive
Horizon's Canada catalog lists Eastlink Canada and Freedom Mobile Canada. Nomad lists Telus Mobility and Bell, while Airalo's checked offer lists Bell. These are provider-published network details, not field tests of a particular road, hotel or national park.
Before choosing a plan for a long drive, check the actual stops and network information. Keep maps, accommodation addresses and booking references offline for sections where a connection may be unavailable. A larger data allowance cannot fix missing reception. Unlimited phone data is a different comparison
Holafly Canada lists 7 days of unlimited phone data at US$36.50 in its official USD duration table. It permits 1 GB per day of hotspot sharing and describes possible temporary network fair-use speed reductions. This is a seven-day USD offer, so it is separate from the fixed 30-day EUR prices above.
For laptop use, distinguish unlimited data on the phone from the amount you can share. Horizon's fixed plans include free hotspot sharing from the purchased allowance, without a separate daily hotspot cap. A phone and laptop using 2 GB between them leave 8 GB on a 10 GB plan; that is an allowance calculation, not a prediction of daily use.
Nomad supports tethering, with stability dependent on the device and network. Airalo permits hotspot where the device and network support it. Saily's Canada technical details state no hotspot restrictions or limitations.
