Thailand eSIM comparison: fixed data or unlimited?
Planes populares de Tailandia

For Thailand, the right comparison depends on whether you need a modest data pool for travel days or a large allowance for streaming and work. Horizon is cheaper in the matched 5 GB and 10 GB / 30-day comparison below. Larger local or unlimited offers can change the answer, so this guide also explains where the small-bundle comparison stops being useful.

Prices checked 19 September 2026. Horizon includes instant support; current prices and availability are on the linked plan pages.

Matched fixed-data prices

  • Horizon: 5 GB / 30 days €3.53; 10 GB / 30 days €6.89.
  • Nomad: 5 GB / 30 days €6.97; 10 GB / 30 days €8.71.
  • Airalo: 5 GB / 30 days €7.50; 10 GB / 30 days €10.00.
  • Saily: 5 GB / 30 days €6.99; 10 GB / 30 days €9.99.

Horizon has the lowest price among the fixed-data offers above for both allowances. At 10 GB / 30 days, it is €1.82 below Nomad, the next-lowest listed price, a 20.9% reduction. This is a comparison of the displayed package totals; it does not establish better signal or identical coverage.

A smaller pool for a Bangkok and beach trip

A fixed allowance can fit a trip where hotel Wi-Fi handles large downloads and mobile data covers directions, messages and bookings. At the checked prices, Horizon’s 5 GB / 30-day option was €3.53 and its 10 GB version was €6.89. The extra €3.36 doubles the total pool without changing the validity.

Estimate your own use before choosing. Frequent video uploads or tethering can consume the allowance quickly, while offline maps and saved booking details reduce what you need on travel days. Neither a 30-day label nor a low price makes a plan unlimited.

Heavy use can favour a different package

Nomad displayed a 50 GB / 10-day Thailand offer at €10.45. Horizon’s checked 50 GB / 10-day offer was €33.70. That is a real reversal of the smaller-bundle result: Nomad was cheaper for that matched large allowance and short validity. A traveler expecting very heavy use within ten days should consider that comparison, not extrapolate the 10 GB result.

For stays longer than ten days, check a product whose validity covers the whole trip. Unlimited plans also need scrutiny: compare the handset allowance, any daily high-speed threshold, tethering allowance and the price for your exact duration. A headline unlimited price without a selected number of days cannot tell you the total bill.

Bangkok, Chiang Mai and island travel

Travel between Thai cities stays within the country scope, but signal varies by location. Do not treat an eSIM as guaranteed service during a ferry crossing or in remote terrain. Download onward travel details before leaving Wi-Fi.

If the itinerary continues to another country, check the Asia-Pacific regional list. A Thailand country plan does not automatically cover a connection in Singapore or a later stay in Japan. Compare the regional total with the country purchases you would actually need.

Getting help with the phone settings

Horizon includes instant support for installation and connection questions. Keep your order details available, select the travel eSIM for mobile data and follow its activation instructions. If you need a local number for ordinary calls, check that separately: the fixed data plans compared here should not be assumed to include voice or SMS. For an onward Japan trip, use the Japan comparison, where the price result differs by allowance.

How Holafly’s unlimited option compares

Holafly’s Thailand product page published a 7-day unlimited plan at US$27.50 in its USD duration table. That is a different allowance, duration and currency from the fixed 30-day EUR offers above, so we do not calculate a percentage saving against it. Check the selected currency and trip length before checkout.

The page specifies 1 GB per day for hotspot sharing, and says network fair-use measures can temporarily reduce speed. Unlimited handset data may suit heavy phone use; it does not mean unlimited tethering or the same speed in every situation. Horizon’s fixed plans support hotspot using the purchased data pool.

Instant support with your Horizon plan

Horizon includes instant support for setup and connection questions. Use Horizon support if you need help installing the eSIM, selecting it for mobile data or understanding the plan before you travel. Keep your order details handy so the team can help with the right purchase.

Before buying, check device compatibility and that your phone is unlocked. Install with a stable internet connection, follow the plan’s activation instructions, and review the live Thailand plans for the current price and coverage.

How the prices were checked

This is a Horizon-authored comparison. Research date: 19 September 2026. Editorial owner: Lurian Kasumaj. Fixed-plan prices are public EUR quotes from the providers’ own product pages, with 5 GB or 10 GB total data and 30-day validity. Public sale prices are included where labelled. Account rewards, subscriptions, affiliate coupons and first-order discounts are excluded. Regional country lists can differ even when allowance and validity match.

Every provider name in the comparison links to its source. Holafly’s separately reported USD quote is left in its published currency, without an exchange-rate conversion. Prices can change after this check; the linked product page and checkout take precedence. This research compares published offers and features, not measured network performance or support response times.
