A two-week rail trip and a month spent moving between cities need more than a cheap first day. This Europe comparison looks at total allowances, longer validity and the country list you will actually use. The first comparison holds the allowance and validity steady so that the advertised starting price cannot disguise a different product.

Horizon has the lowest price among the fixed-data offers above for both allowances. At 10 GB / 30 days, it is €12.77 below Nomad, the next-lowest listed price, a 63.7% reduction. This is a comparison of the displayed package totals; it does not establish better signal or identical coverage.
Longer validity can change the answer
Horizon’s 20 GB / 30-day plan was €14.37, and its 20 GB / 90-day plan was also €14.37 at this check. The 90-day version gives the same total data over a longer window; it is not 20 GB per month. Nomad’s checked 20 GB / 30-day offer was €23.52 on sale, and Airalo’s was €43.00.
For heavier use, the picture is less uniform. Horizon’s 50 GB / 30-day and 50 GB / 90-day offers were €35.64 each. Nomad advertised 50 GB / 30 days at €30.49 on sale, while Airalo listed 50 GB / 30 days at €62.50 and 50 GB / 90 days at €89.00. Saily listed 50 GB / 90 days at €85.49. Nomad’s sale was cheaper for the 50 GB / 30-day comparison; Horizon’s 90-day option becomes a different decision for a longer journey. These larger allowances are total pools, not daily quotas.
London, Paris, Switzerland and Italy on one route
Horizon’s checked Europe plan includes 33 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and Italy. That covers the country sequence for London → Paris → Zürich → Milan without buying a separate country allowance at each stop. Local signal still determines whether you can connect in a tunnel or on a mountain pass.
The other product lists are not identical. Nomad’s quoted option is its 35-country Europe plan, Airalo’s is its 41-country Europe plan and Saily publishes a 35-country European list. A country count alone does not prove that Turkey, Albania or Kosovo is included. Horizon’s Europe package does not include those three; use the Balkans comparison for a route heading southeast, and add a separate Kosovo plan if needed.
Size the allowance around the days you leave Wi-Fi
For a two-week trip, start with your phone’s recent mobile-data usage and subtract downloads you can move to accommodation Wi-Fi. Navigation, messaging and transport tickets often need less data than automatic photo backup or video. A 10 GB total allowance spread over 14 days averages about 0.71 GB per day; that arithmetic is a planning aid, not a promise about anyone’s usage.
If you expect laptop work, count it separately. Hotspot shares the same allowance with your computer, whose updates and backups can consume data in the background. A larger fixed pool can suit irregular busy days, while an unlimited plan deserves a closer look when daily use is consistently high. Compare its hotspot allowance and speed policy as well as its price.
When a country plan makes more sense
If your entire trip stays in one country, compare its local plan first. The France comparison and Italy comparison show why buying a larger geographic footprint can cost more than necessary. Choose a regional product when you will use its extra coverage, and check every overnight and transit country before paying.
