Jamaica is a single island, but the four places most visitors name sit a long way apart on it. Kingston
Kingston sits on the south coast with the Blue Mountains rising directly behind it, and it is the culture stop rather than the beach stop: the Bob Marley Museum at 56 Hope Road, Devon House, National Heroes Park, and Port Royal, the old pirate port at the end of the Palisadoes spit. Norman Manley International lies about 19 kilometres south of New Kingston along that same low, exposed spit road. The city sits in the mountains' rain shadow and stays drier than the north coast.

Montego Bay

Ocho Rios is the north-central base, and its headline sight, Dunn's River Falls, is a terraced waterfall about three kilometres from town that visitors climb rather than simply photograph. Dolphin Cove, Turtle Beach and the Blue Hole — waterfalls and natural pools known locally as Island Gully, amid lush vegetation — fill out a day. That gorge is enclosed, wet terrain, so pull up directions and any booking voucher while still on the coast road.

Negril holds the island's west end, about 81 kilometres and an hour and a half from Sangster International. Seven Mile Beach is in fact two connected bays, Bloody Bay to the north and Long Bay to the south, and south of downtown the West End Cliffs drop into deeper water used for diving and jumping. The Negril Lighthouse marks that point. The drive in crosses rural western parishes rather than resort strip, so load the route beforehand.

A week spent between Doctor's Cave Beach and the Hip Strip consumes data very differently from a week that crosses to Kingston and climbs into the Blue Mountains. Count the travel days first, including the departure day, then confirm that the destination list on the offer actually names Jamaica rather than a broader regional grouping. If the trip includes a cruise call or a hop to another island, that stop is a separate territory question, and the offer wording is the only place it is answered.

What does hurricane season mean for a Jamaica booking?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, with peak activity from late August through September and a climatological midpoint of 10 September. Storms can disrupt infrastructure island-wide, most severely on exposed coastal stretches, so a September date carries a different risk profile from a February one. December to April is the usual recommendation for a balance of settled weather and lower storm risk, and it is also the peak tourist season.
Should I fly into Montego Bay or Kingston?

How long do the drives between Jamaica's resort towns take?
Longer than the distances suggest. Montego Bay to Negril is about 81 kilometres but takes around an hour and a half. Montego Bay to Ocho Rios runs roughly an hour and forty-five minutes on the North Coast Highway. Between Ocho Rios and Kingston, the North–South Highway 2000 toll road is an option, but total travel time depends on your start and end points, traffic and current conditions. Check your route before setting out. Kingston to Montego Bay remains a crossing of around three to three and a half hours.
Can the Blue Mountains be visited as a day trip from Kingston?
The range rises directly behind the capital, so the coffee farms and hiking trails are within day-trip reach of Kingston. Blue Mountain Peak itself reaches 2,256 metres and the roads up run through steep, forested terrain. Elevation and narrow valleys commonly shadow a mobile signal there, unlike the built-up coastal strips, so it is worth saving maps, the meeting point and any booking reference to the handset before leaving the city.
Does a Jamaica plan cover a cruise call at another Caribbean island?
Only if the offer says so. A destination plan written for Jamaica is written for Jamaica, and a call at another island, or the hours at sea between them, falls outside that territory.
