Getting started

How a Horizon travel eSIM works

  1. 1. Pick your destination and plan

Search for your destination, then compare data, validity, coverage and the current plan price before checkout.

  2. 2. Install over Wi-Fi before you fly

After checkout, open the QR code or activation details in your email or account. Follow the setup steps over reliable Wi-Fi before you travel.

  3. 3. Select the eSIM at your destination

Set the travel eSIM as your data line and follow its activation instructions. Check the package details for when validity starts and whether top-ups are available.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM profile supported by many recent phones. A provider supplies installation details that your phone downloads over Wi-Fi. On compatible dual-SIM devices, it can run alongside your normal SIM.

For travel, an eSIM lets you buy a prepaid data plan before departure. Compare it with your carrier's current roaming tariff, and check the plan's destination coverage, data and validity.

Will your phone work?

Compatibility depends on the exact model, sales region and carrier lock. Check the supported-devices list and confirm that your phone is carrier-unlocked before you buy a plan.

Common questions
What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into compatible phones. It gives you a separate mobile data line without replacing your physical SIM.

Can I use one eSIM in multiple countries?

Yes, when the selected plan lists multiple countries. Choose a regional or global plan, confirm every stop in its coverage details, and follow its network and setup instructions in each destination. Coverage, networks and profile reuse depend on the plan.

Will my phone work?

Many newer iPhone and Android models support eSIM, but the phone must also be carrier-unlocked. Check our supported devices page before you buy.

How much data do I need for a week abroad?

Maps and messaging generally use less data than streaming, video calls, cloud backups or tethering. Check your recent phone usage, allow for the length of your trip and confirm whether your chosen plan supports top-ups.

When does my plan start?

The start rule depends on the package. Check the plan details before purchase to see whether validity begins at installation, activation or first connection, and note any first-use deadline.

Can I top up without reinstalling?

Only when the selected plan supports it. Open My eSIMs to see eligible data, validity or destination options; availability and profile reuse depend on the plan.

What happens if I delete the eSIM?

Don't delete it unless support asks you to. An eSIM profile usually can't be installed twice, so contact us if you remove it by mistake.

Can I keep my number?

Yes. Use Horizon for mobile data and keep your primary SIM active for calls and texts. Your carrier may still charge for activity on that line.
