Caribbean eSIM for island itineraries

Plan mobile data for Caribbean stays without treating the region as one uniform market. Choose a package only after its own destination list matches the islands or territories on your itinerary.

One Caribbean eSIM currently covers fourteen islands and territories on a single data plan, including the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Barbados, Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands. A Caribbean itinerary may combine an island or territory reached by air with another stop reached by ferry, yet regional packages do not necessarily group those markets in the same way. Treat the live destination list inside the selected package as decisive and check each overnight stop before payment. This eSIM is for terrestrial mobile service after arrival; it is not a shipboard, offshore or at-sea connectivity product for a cruise passage.

How eSIM works in Caribbean

Install the Caribbean eSIM on Wi-Fi before the cruise or island trip; there is no separate manual activation step. Keep the line off while travelling and at sea. The first successful connection to a supported land network at an included destination activates the package and begins the validity shown at checkout. Choose Horizon for mobile data and enable roaming on that line. At each later island, leave the profile installed and allow time for automatic local registration. Use airplane mode at sea, switching Wi-Fi back on only if you have the ship's separate Wi-Fi service.

Pick a destination, data allowance and validity period.

  2. Install your eSIM

Scan the QR or auto-install in the app — no physical SIM.

  3. Land & connect

Data activates on first connection at your destination.

Size it to your trip

Pick the profile closest to your trip. The estimate assumes normal use — maps, messaging, photos, a short call home.

As a rule of thumb, a 3–4 day city break runs on about 1–3 GB, a one-week trip on 3–5 GB, a two-week multi-country tour on 8–12 GB, and working on the road takes about 1 GB a day, so 15 GB or more for two weeks.

In total, a 1 GB data allowance covers roughly 330 shared photos, 17 hours of social media and browsing, 2.9 hours of video calls, 13 hours of music streaming, or about 200 hours of maps and navigation. Messaging apps barely use data.

Why Horizon

Practical planning for Caribbean stops

Regional data can reduce profile changes when several included island markets appear in one journey. It also makes it easier to keep travel research, accommodation messages and ground transport details on one data line after reaching land. Compare it with a dedicated destination package if your trip centers on one island, and check the chosen package for allowance, validity and any hotspot condition rather than assuming those details are shared by every offer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check coverage for an island-hopping trip?

Write down every place where you will go ashore and open the destination list for the specific package you are considering. Match each island or territory individually; a regional heading does not mean that neighboring stops share inclusion or plan terms.

Will the Caribbean eSIM work while my ship is at sea?

This is a terrestrial mobile-data product for use after you arrive on land in a destination included by your package. It is not maritime or cruise Wi-Fi and should not be expected to serve cabins, offshore waters or the sailing time between ports.

Does one package include the whole Caribbean?

Horizon's Caribbean eSIM currently lists fourteen islands and territories: Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Combinations can change, so compare the destination list shown with the selected offer against every stop before buying.

When should I activate a Caribbean travel eSIM?

Install the eSIM over Wi-Fi before the trip; there is no separate manual activation step. Keep the line off until you go ashore at an included destination, then select Horizon for mobile data and enable data roaming. The first successful connection to a supported land network activates the package and starts the validity period shown at purchase.

Can I use my normal SIM for calls at the same time?

On a compatible dual-line device, the home SIM can remain available for calls or messages while the travel eSIM handles mobile data. Charges from the home operator may apply. Turn off mobile data and data roaming for the home line to avoid unintended roaming use.

Is a regional plan better than an island-specific plan?

Choose the regional plan when the trip has two or more included islands or territories: one installed profile follows the listed land stops instead of requiring a new setup at every port. For a holiday based on one island, compare that island's plan. The regional eSIM covers land networks at included stops, not the sailing time between them.
