How eSIM works in Uruguay

Should I buy Uruguay-only or Latin America coverage?
Choose Uruguay-only coverage when every stop is inside Uruguay. Compare the Latin America plan if the route also includes Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru or El Salvador. Check the live list before paying: Paraguay and Bolivia are not included.
How much data should I choose for Uruguay?
Start with your recent phone usage, subtract what will stay on Wi-Fi, then add maps, transport tickets, accommodation messages, photos and calls for each day. Include laptop or companion use if you will share the hotspot. Compare the result with current validity and total price; travelling farther along the coast does not automatically mean using more data.
When does the Uruguay eSIM validity start?

Do I get a Uruguayan phone number, and will WhatsApp keep mine?
No. Horizon provides mobile data without a Uruguayan number, calls or SMS. WhatsApp can keep the number already registered in the app while using Horizon data. Set Horizon as the data line; calls or texts through your usual SIM follow your home operator's terms, so disable that line if you do not need it.
