Airalo vs Saily vs Horizon: Australia eSIM prices compared

If you are choosing between Airalo and Saily for Australia, the two were close on price when we checked. Horizon's price was the lowest in every row of the comparison below: for 10 GB over 30 days, Horizon listed €7.76, against €16.50 at Airalo and €15.99 at Saily.

The comparison covers 1, 3, 5, 10 and 50 GB, plus 7-day plans for shorter visits, with every validity difference noted. Horizon wrote this comparison and sells travel eSIMs.

Australia eSIM prices: Horizon vs Airalo vs Saily

Validity differs in two rows. Airalo's 1 GB plan lasts 3 days, against 7 days at Horizon and Saily. Airalo listed no 30-day 3 GB plan; its 7-day 3 GB plan cost €7.50. Saily listed no 50 GB plan for Australia.

What the difference adds up to

Here is how much less Horizon listed for each plan:

• 1 GB: €3.06 less than Airalo, whose 1 GB plan lasts 3 days instead of 7, and €2.55 less than Saily.
• 3 GB for 30 days: €5.05 less than Airalo's 7-day 3 GB plan, and €4.54 less than Saily.
• 5 GB for 30 days: €6.03 less than Airalo and €6.02 less than Saily.
• 10 GB for 30 days: €8.74 less than Airalo and €8.23 less than Saily.
• 50 GB for 30 days: €2.43 less than Airalo. Saily listed no 50 GB plan.

At 5 GB and 10 GB for 30 days, Airalo's and Saily's prices were each more than double Horizon's.

Take a couple spending two weeks on the east coast, each with 10 GB for 30 days. Their two plans came to €15.52 at Horizon, €33.00 at Airalo and €31.98 at Saily. That is €17.48 less than Airalo and €16.46 less than Saily for the same data and validity.

Short trips: Horizon vs Airalo on 7-day plans

Saily listed no fixed-data 7-day plan above 1 GB for Australia; its 3 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB plans last 30 days. So this table compares Horizon with Airalo only.

Horizon listed each of these 7-day plans at the same price as its 30-day plan of the same size. If your dates might stretch, the 30-day plan gives you more days for the same price.

Road trips and big allowances

A coastal road trip or an inland loop can mean several full days behind the wheel. Navigation runs for hours, but streamed music or podcasts use far more data, and a passenger's laptop on your phone's hotspot draws on the same allowance. Hotspot sharing is free on every Horizon plan.

If a trip like that adds up to well over 10 GB, compare the 50 GB plans. For 30 days, Horizon listed €38.07 and Airalo €40.50, €2.43 apart; Saily listed no 50 GB plan. Horizon also listed 50 GB for 180 days at the same €38.07, for a longer stay such as a working holiday. Airalo's 50 GB plan lasts 30 days.

For a typical two-week visit, 10 GB for 30 days is a common fit, and the 30-day window leaves room if your return flight moves. Horizon listed it at €7.76, against €16.50 at Airalo and €15.99 at Saily. Before a long drive, download maps and playlists over Wi-Fi so the allowance goes further.

How much data do you need?

• Light use: maps, messages, a few photos and evenings on accommodation Wi-Fi. About 3 GB for a week, 5 GB for two weeks.
• Normal use: navigation most days, photos to a group chat and a call home twice a week. Around 5 GB for a week, 10 GB for two weeks.
• Heavy use: music streamed on driving days, video calls most evenings or a laptop on your hotspot. This can outgrow 10 GB in two weeks.

Which is cheaper for Australia, Airalo or Saily?

Saily, by a small margin, when we checked on 25 September 2026. For 30 days, Saily listed €9.99 against Airalo's €10.00 for 5 GB, and €15.99 against €16.50 for 10 GB. Saily's 1 GB plan cost €3.49 for 7 days, while Airalo's cost €4.00 for 3 days. Of the two, only Saily listed 3 GB for 30 days, and only Airalo listed 50 GB. On every plan compared here, Horizon's price was at least €2.43 below theirs.

Is it really the same data?

Each row compares the same advertised data allowance, and the same validity except where the table says otherwise. Networks, coverage details and plan terms can differ between providers, so check the plan details on each site.

Are the Horizon prices here a promotion?

No. They are Horizon's regular public prices on 25 September 2026, and no promotion was active on the plans quoted.

Can I keep my phone number and WhatsApp?

You can keep your existing WhatsApp number and use Horizon for mobile data. Calls and SMS on your original number need your usual SIM or eSIM to remain enabled on a compatible dual-SIM phone. Your usual carrier’s roaming charges may still apply to that line.

When does a Horizon plan start?
