Australia eSIM comparison: travel data, hotspot and price
Popular Australia plans

Australia is a long flight and a big country, so start by matching the data allowance and the validity, then check the published networks for the places you will actually drive. Here are the checked 5 GB and 10 GB data-only prices for 30 days.

Prices checked 29 September 2026. Horizon includes instant support and free hotspot sharing; current prices and availability are on the linked plan pages.

Matched fixed-data prices

  • Horizon: 5 GB / 30 days €3.68; 10 GB / 30 days €7.19.
  • Saily: 5 GB / 30 days €9.99; 10 GB / 30 days €15.99.
  • Airalo: 5 GB / 30 days €10.00; 10 GB / 30 days €16.50.
  • Ubigi: no 5 GB / 30-day plan; 10 GB / 30 days €16.00.
  • Nomad: 5 GB / 30 days US$10; 10 GB / 30 days US$15, shown in US dollars for our connection (about €8.81 and €13.21 at the ECB reference rate of 29 September 2026).

Horizon has the lowest price among the fixed-data offers above for both allowances. At 10 GB / 30 days, it is about €6.02 below Nomad's US$15 (about €13.21), the next-lowest price, and €8.80 below Saily's €15.99, the lowest price shown in euros among the others. At 5 GB, Nomad's US$10 (about €8.81) is next, about €5.13 above Horizon; Saily's €9.99 is €6.31 above it. This is a comparison of the displayed package totals; it does not establish better signal or identical coverage.

Short visits: 7-day plans

Horizon lists its 7-day plans at the same price as the 30-day plan of the same size: 5 GB for 7 days at €3.68 and 10 GB for 7 days at €7.19. Airalo's 7-day plans cost €9.50 for 5 GB and €15.00 for 10 GB, and Ubigi lists 10 GB for 7 days at €14.00. Saily and Nomad listed no fixed 5 GB or 10 GB plan shorter than 30 days.

If your dates might stretch, the 30-day Horizon plan gives you more days for the same price.

Larger allowances: where the order changes

Horizon has no 20 GB Australia plan. Nomad lists 20 GB / 30 days at US$24 (about €21.14), Saily at €26.49 and Airalo at €27.50.

At 50 GB for 30 days, Horizon lists €35.30, against €41.00 at Airalo and €55.00 at Ubigi. Nomad lists 50 GB / 30 days at US$32 (about €28.18), so Nomad costs less at 50 GB. Horizon's 50 GB plan for 180 days costs the same €35.30 and suits a longer stay such as a working holiday; Nomad's 50 GB plan lasts 30 days.

Choose the allowance you actually need rather than assuming the smaller-plan price order applies to every size.

A city break and a road trip use data differently

In Sydney or Melbourne, accommodation Wi-Fi can take backups and downloads while mobile data covers maps, rides and messages. On a coastal or inland road trip, you may spend whole days away from Wi-Fi, stream music while driving and share the connection with a passenger's laptop, so estimate that combined use rather than your phone's usual consumption. Our guide on how much data for an Australia trip counts city, driving and national park days separately.

A plan's country coverage is not a guarantee of signal on every highway or inside every national park. Download maps, bookings and playlists over Wi-Fi before long stretches between towns.

Published networks for Australia

Horizon's Australia plans list Optus. Airalo and Saily also name Optus, while Nomad names Optus and Telstra. These are provider-published network details, not field tests of a particular road, town or park, so check the networks for your route before you buy.

Hotspot and unlimited data are separate questions

All Horizon plans include free hotspot sharing. A laptop or tablet on your hotspot uses the same purchased allowance, so pause background updates when you want to save travel data.

Holafly's Australia product page published a 7-day unlimited plan at US$27.50 in its USD duration table and specifies 1 GB per day for hotspot sharing. That is a different allowance and duration from the fixed 30-day offers above, so we do not calculate a saving against it. Unlimited handset data may suit heavy phone use; it does not mean unlimited tethering.

Australia plus New Zealand

An Australia country plan works only in Australia. If your trip continues to New Zealand, add a separate New Zealand plan or compare a regional plan such as Asia Pacific, which shares one allowance across the countries it lists. Our guide to staying online from Australia to New Zealand covers that route.

Instant support with your Horizon plan

Horizon includes instant support for setup and connection questions. Use Horizon support if you need help installing the eSIM, selecting it for mobile data or understanding the plan before you travel.

Before buying, check device compatibility and that your phone is unlocked. Install with a stable internet connection, follow the plan's activation instructions, and review the live Australia plans for the current price and coverage.

How the prices were checked

This is a Horizon-authored comparison. Research date: 29 September 2026. Editorial owner: Lurian Kasumaj. Fixed-plan prices are public quotes from the providers' own product pages, with the same total data and 30-day validity unless stated: in EUR for Horizon, Airalo and Saily, for Ubigi with its currency selector set to EUR, and in US dollars for Nomad, which showed only US dollars for our connection. Holafly's unlimited plan is quoted from its USD duration table, without conversion. The euro equivalents for Nomad use the European Central Bank reference rate of 29 September 2026 (1 EUR = 1.1355 USD) and are approximate.

Account rewards such as Saily credits, subscriptions, affiliate coupons and first-order discounts are excluded. Every provider name in the comparison links to its source. Prices can change after this check; the linked product page and checkout take precedence. This research compares published offers and features, not measured network performance or support response times.
