Croatia eSIM comparison: coast, islands and border detours
Popular Croatia plans

For a holiday staying within Croatia, a country plan is the starting point. A detour into Bosnia and Herzegovina or Montenegro is a different purchase decision. Check your existing mobile contract first, then compare the same data and validity instead of treating every plan labelled Europe as interchangeable.

Prices checked 10 October 2026.

Compare the same data allowance and validity

The fixed-data table uses total allowances with 30-day validity. Every figure is a public price in EUR. A larger allowance does not reset each day, and the price alone says nothing about reception.

Provider5 GB / 30 days10 GB / 30 days20 GB / 30 days
Horizon€2.50€4.81€9.43
Airalo€10.00€15.50€23.50
Nomad€8.00€13.33€18.66
Saily€9.99€15.99€24.99

At 10 GB / 30 days, Horizon costs €4.81; Nomad lists €13.33, a difference of €8.52. Compare all the rows before choosing: these are dated quotes for the listed offers, not a ranking of every provider or every possible discount.

A ferry ticket does not imply mobile coverage at sea

Split, Dubrovnik and an island stay can share the same Croatia country allowance. What changes is the time spent away from accommodation Wi-Fi and the need to keep bookings available. Download ferry tickets, hotel details and useful maps before leaving a Wi-Fi connection.

A land-network eSIM is not a maritime internet service. Reception on a ferry depends on access to supported land networks, so plan for time offline rather than assuming an island appears on a country list and the entire crossing is covered. If another traveller uses your hotspot, estimate the combined data use and keep a copy of essential bookings on both phones.

Europe or Balkans depends on the actual border

Horizon’s Europe plan is €7.27 for 10 GB / 30 days and includes Croatia and Slovenia. Horizon’s Balkans plan is €11.68 and includes Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Kosovo is excluded and needs its own separate plan.

Compared with Croatia’s €4.81 for 10 GB / 30 days, those regional options add €2.46 and €6.87 respectively. Spend the difference only when the additional country coverage fits your route. Crossing into a covered country shares the existing pool; it does not restart the allowance or the validity period.

Unlimited phone data and hotspot are different

Holafly publishes a 7-day unlimited plan at US$27.50 in its USD duration table. The same page specifies 1 GB per day for hotspot sharing. That can suit heavy use on the phone, but it is not unlimited laptop data. The allowance, duration and currency differ from the fixed EUR plans above, so no percentage saving is calculated against it.

Hotspot sharing is free on every Horizon plan.

A laptop or another device uses the purchased pool alongside the phone. Include photo backups, software updates and video meetings in your estimate. For an unlimited plan from another provider, read its current fair-use and hotspot terms before buying.

Horizon plans have no throttling.

Actual reception and speed still depend on the supported network, location, phone and congestion. This article does not contain route tests or speed measurements.

Check the phone before paying

Check device compatibility and that the phone is unlocked. Follow the installation guide over a stable internet connection before departure. Keep the eSIM installed while troubleshooting; deleting it is not a routine connection fix.

Validity does not start until your eSIM first connects to a supported mobile network at your destination.

Horizon’s listed plans are data-only. A data connection is different from a local phone number, ordinary calls or SMS. Your home carrier may still charge for calls, texts or data on its own line. Review both lines’ settings rather than assuming the travel plan changes your home contract.

Support, sources and the limits of this comparison

Horizon offers 24/7 human support in all languages, with guaranteed instant replies.

Contact Horizon support with setup or plan questions. An instant reply is not a promise of instant resolution. The refund policy explains purchase verification and how a refund is returned.

This comparison is written by Horizon; editorial owner: Lurian Kasumaj. Provider names link to the official product pages checked on 10 October 2026. EUR prices are the providers’ displayed euro prices, not our currency conversions. Holafly’s separate quote remains in USD. Public sale prices are included where labelled; subscriptions, account rewards and coupon codes are excluded. Recheck the selected plan and checkout before paying.

Short answers

Does 30-day validity mean I must stay for 30 days?

No. It is the expiry window after service begins, not a minimum stay. Compare the shorter plan’s actual price before assuming it costs less, and allow for your arrival and departure dates.

Is 10 GB a daily allowance?

No. In this comparison, 10 GB is the total pool for the plan. Sharing it with another device does not create a second allowance. Check your own recent mobile-data use and leave room for travel days.
