A Kenya trip can put Nairobi airport pickups, a safari departure and a Mombasa hotel booking on the same phone. The useful question is how you will use data between those stops: messaging a driver is different from uploading a day of video over a laptop hotspot.

Kenya prices for the same data and duration

Horizon cost less than Airalo in these two matched euro offers. That finding says nothing about which network will work best at your accommodation. A cheap allowance is useful only if the package's destination and network details fit the trip. These are dated retail observations, without coupons, account rewards or subscriptions; check the checkout total before buying.
What you need data for in Kenya
For a Nairobi arrival, save the pickup instructions before departure and keep your driver or host's contact in a messaging app. During a city stay, data is useful for finding meeting addresses, checking reservations and sharing your location with someone expecting you.
Safari planning changes the balance. You may need only occasional messages while away, yet use much more data when sending photographs afterwards. Ask your camp about connectivity and download the itinerary, maps and booking confirmations in advance. A country plan does not establish reception on a particular game-drive route.
On a Mombasa or coastal stay, hotel Wi-Fi can cover large downloads while mobile data handles outings and transfers. Count the days from your first required connection to your final journey, not just the nights at the beach. Kenya's official tourism site is a starting point for arranging the itinerary itself.
Travel eSIM or a local SIM?
An unlocked, compatible phone lets you prepare an eSIM before travelling and keep your usual SIM installed. Use the travel line for data and check your home operator's charges before using its calls, texts or roaming. App messaging and a local telephone number are different requirements: a data allowance should not be assumed to include a Kenyan number or local account services.
A local operator may suit a longer stay or someone who needs local calling. Check its current visitor eligibility, registration process, package terms and sales channels directly. This comparison does not claim that buying a travel eSIM always costs less than buying locally.
Can the same eSIM continue into Tanzania?
A Kenya-only package does not include Tanzania. Also, Horizon's current Africa selection does not include either Kenya or Tanzania. For an onward trip, compare the exact country lists of regional products or add a supported Tanzania package to an eligible installed Horizon eSIM through My eSIMs. That is another purchase with its own allowance and validity, not an extension of the Kenya allowance.
Setup, sharing and choosing an allowance
Install over a working connection before the first transfer, follow the package's activation instructions and choose the travel eSIM as the mobile-data line. Keep automatic data switching to your home SIM off if you do not want that line used for data.
Horizon includes free hotspot sharing on every plan; connected devices consume the same allowance. Laptop updates, video calls and photo backups can change your needs more than the number of sightseeing stops. Start with your phone's recent usage, decide which large transfers can wait for Wi-Fi, and choose a validity period covering the whole visit.
