As of October 2026, Horizon's Paraguay eSIM plans name one partner network, Tigo, with 3G/4G where available. The page lists five plans, from 1 GB for 7 days to 25.6 GB for 30 days. The eSIM is a data-only line next to your own SIM: you install it at home over Wi-Fi and switch it on in Paraguay.
Here you will find the network, the plan sizes, the setup, the arrival in Asunción or Ciudad del Este, and what the long roads and the Chaco mean for your phone.
The network the Paraguay plans name
Horizon's Paraguay page names Tigo as the partner network, listed with 3G/4G where available. It is not listed with 5G. The badge describes what the network supports, not what a long-distance bus or a ranch in the Chaco will give you; which generation your phone shows depends on the device, the location and local conditions. Reception may vary by area.
The Paraguay data plans
As of October 2026, the page lists these plans:
| Data | Validity |
|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 days |
| 3 GB | 15 days |
| 10 GB | 7 days |
| 10 GB | 30 days |
| 25.6 GB | 30 days |
The largest plan holds 25,600 MB, which the page shows as 25.6 GB. Current prices are on the destination page, because they follow the live catalogue.
A few days of meetings in Asunción, with Wi-Fi at the hotel and the office, fits a small plan. A route that adds Encarnación and Ciudad del Este is mostly travelled by bus, and long road days mean maps, ticket changes, messages home and a phone that is often your only connection. For two weeks of that, compare the 10 GB plan for 30 days with the 7-day plans, and size up if a laptop shares the connection.
Set it up before you fly
Check that your phone supports eSIM on the supported devices page, and that it is not locked to your home carrier. Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi with how to install an eSIM, which covers iPhone and Android. Your installation details are in My eSIMs. Name the line clearly, such as "Paraguay data", and leave it off until you arrive.
Save the QR code and installation instructions securely, somewhere you can access without this phone. Keep the eSIM installed. If you delete it or change phones, contact support before trying to reinstall; reuse of the QR code is not guaranteed.
Validity does not start until your eSIM first connects to a supported mobile network at your destination. Installing the eSIM does not start its validity.
Arriving in Asunción or Ciudad del Este
Most international flights land at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, outside Asunción; Guaraní International Airport serves Ciudad del Este in the east. Domestic flights are few, so onward travel usually starts at a bus terminal. Once you are in Paraguay:
- Turn the Horizon line on.
- Choose it as the line for mobile data.
- Turn on data roaming for the Horizon line only.
- Keep mobile data off on your home SIM, unless you accept your home operator's charges.
Before the flight, save the first address, the taxi or pickup arrangement and an offline map that includes the roads you will travel.
Hotspot, calls and your own number
Hotspot sharing is free on every Horizon plan. A laptop or a colleague's phone on your hotspot uses the same data allowance, so add it to your estimate.
The plans include no Paraguayan number. Your home SIM can stay in the phone with your usual number; whether it can make calls or receive texts in Paraguay, and at what price, is set by your home operator. Banks and airlines often send one-time codes to that number by text.
Long roads and the Chaco
Distances between the main cities are long, and the bus is the usual way to cover them. Near Encarnación, the Jesuit mission ruins of Trinidad and Jesús sit out in the countryside. West of the Paraguay River, the Gran Chaco is flat and thinly populated, and the Trans-Chaco Highway to Filadelfia runs through long empty stretches. Download maps and bus times before each leg, and tell someone your plans before a Chaco drive.
Paraguay borders Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia. The Iguazú Falls lie on the border between Argentina and Brazil, close to Ciudad del Este, and a Paraguay plan covers Paraguay only, so a day at the falls needs a plan for the country you visit.
Short answers
Which network do the Paraguay plans name? Tigo, with 3G/4G where available.
Can I install the eSIM before I travel? Yes. Install it at home over Wi-Fi and keep the line off until you arrive. Installing the eSIM does not start its validity.
Does the plan work at the Iguazú Falls? No. The falls are in Argentina and Brazil, and the plan covers Paraguay only.
Do I get a Paraguayan phone number? No. The plans are data-only, so internet calls and messaging apps use the data allowance.
What if the data runs out? A top-up adds a plan to the eSIM already on your phone, so there is no new QR code to scan. If the data has already run out, buy it over Wi-Fi. The top-up page explains how it works.
