As of October 2026, Horizon's Seychelles eSIM plans name one partner network, Airtel, with 3G/4G where available. The page lists five plans, from 1 GB for 7 days to 25.6 GB for 30 days. The eSIM is data-only and works next to your own SIM, so you install it at home over Wi-Fi and switch the line on when you land on Mahé.
This guide covers the network, the plan sizes, the setup, the arrival and the ferry days between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
The network the Seychelles plans name
Horizon's Seychelles page names Airtel as the partner network, listed with 3G/4G where available. It is not listed with 5G. A badge describes what the network supports, not what a beach below a granite ridge, a ferry crossing or a far-off island will give you; which generation your phone shows depends on the device, the location and local conditions. Reception may vary by area.
The Seychelles data plans
As of October 2026, the page lists these plans:
| Data | Validity |
|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 days |
| 3 GB | 15 days |
| 10 GB | 7 days |
| 10 GB | 30 days |
| 25.6 GB | 30 days |
The largest plan holds 25,600 MB, which the page shows as 25.6 GB. Current prices are on the destination page, because they follow the live catalogue.
A week at one hotel on Mahé, with Wi-Fi in the room, needs far less than a trip that moves between three islands. Island-hopping adds ferry bookings, maps for hired cars and bicycles, messages to each new host and photos sent from beaches far from any Wi-Fi. Pick the plan that covers every night of the trip first, then the data, and add more if a laptop or a partner's phone will share your hotspot. For two weeks of island-hopping, compare the 10 GB plan for 30 days with the 15-day plan.
Set it up before you fly
Check that your phone supports eSIM on the supported devices page, and that it is not locked to your home carrier. Then install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi with how to install an eSIM, which covers iPhone and Android. Your installation details are in My eSIMs. Name the line, for example "Seychelles data", and leave it off until you land.
Save the QR code and installation instructions securely, somewhere you can access without this phone. Keep the eSIM installed. If you delete it or change phones, contact support before trying to reinstall; reuse of the QR code is not guaranteed.
Validity does not start until your eSIM first connects to a supported mobile network at your destination. Installing the eSIM does not start its validity.
Landing on Mahé
International flights arrive at Seychelles International Airport on Mahé, south of the capital, Victoria. Praslin is reached by ferry or a short domestic flight, and La Digue by ferry from Praslin or Mahé. Once you are in the Seychelles:
- Turn the Horizon line on.
- Choose it as the line for mobile data.
- Turn on data roaming for the Horizon line only.
- Keep mobile data off on your home SIM, unless you accept your home operator's charges.
Before the flight, save the pickup name, the full address of your first stay and every ferry booking as separate notes you can open offline.
Hotspot, calls and your own number
Hotspot sharing is free on every Horizon plan. A partner's phone or a laptop on your hotspot uses the same data allowance, so count it when you choose.
There is no Seychellois number on these plans. Your home SIM can stay in the phone with your usual number; whether it can make calls or receive texts in the Seychelles, and at what price, is set by your home operator. Banks and airlines often send one-time codes to that number by text.
Ferries and the outer islands
The inner islands are close together, but each crossing is open water, and hilly interiors and secluded coves can put a ridge between you and the nearest mast. The outer islands lie far from Mahé and are usually visited on organised stays. On a boat, a remote beach or an outer island, reception may vary or stop. Download ferry times, your host's directions and an offline map of each island before you cross.
A Seychelles plan covers the Seychelles only. If the trip includes a stopover in another country, that country needs its own plan.
Short answers
Which network do the Seychelles plans name? Airtel, with 3G/4G where available.
Can I install the eSIM before I travel? Yes. Install it at home over Wi-Fi and keep the line off until you land. Installing the eSIM does not start its validity.
Will I have a signal on the ferry? Reception may vary at sea, so save your booking and the next address offline before you board.
Do I get a Seychellois phone number? No. The plans are data-only, and internet calls and messaging apps use the data allowance.
What if the data runs out? A top-up adds a plan to the eSIM already on your phone, so there is no new QR code to scan. If the data has already run out, buy it over Wi-Fi. The top-up page explains how it works.
