How eSIM works in Brazil
Check that your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked, then buy and install the Brazil profile over Wi-Fi before departure. The first successful eSIM connection in Brazil starts the selected validity period. At arrival, select Horizon for mobile data, enable data roaming on the Horizon line and keep mobile data roaming off on your home SIM if you want to avoid home-carrier charges. This is a data-only eSIM, so it does not add a Brazilian number or SMS service.

Frequently asked questions
Should I buy Brazil-only or Latin America coverage?
Choose Brazil-only coverage when every stop is inside Brazil. Compare the Latin America plan when the same trip also includes Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador or Uruguay. Check the live destination list before paying: Paraguay and Bolivia are not included in that regional plan.
How much data should I choose for Brazil?
Start with your recent phone usage, remove activity you will keep on Wi-Fi, then add maps, ride apps, boarding passes, photo uploads and calls for each travel day. Add laptop or companion use if you will share the hotspot. Compare the resulting allowance with the live validity and total price rather than buying by country size alone.
When does the Brazil eSIM validity start?
You can install it over Wi-Fi before departure. Buying or adding the profile does not start the selected validity. Its first successful connection in Brazil starts that period. Keep the line off until travel if you prefer, then select Horizon for mobile data on arrival.
Will a Brazil plan work on the Argentine side of Iguaçu Falls?
A Brazil country plan covers Brazil only. Crossing to the Argentine park is an international border, even though the falls form one visit. Compare the Latin America plan, which includes both Brazil and Argentina, or buy separate country coverage. Paraguay is not included in Horizon's Latin America plan.
Do I get a Brazilian phone number, and will WhatsApp keep mine?
No. Horizon provides mobile data and does not include a Brazilian phone number, calls or SMS. WhatsApp can keep using the number already registered in the app while Horizon carries its data. If you leave your usual SIM enabled for voice or texts, review your home operator's roaming charges first.
Can I share the Brazil eSIM data by hotspot?
Yes. Hotspot sharing is free on every Horizon plan. Your phone must support tethering with eSIM, and laptops, tablets or companions use the same plan allowance, so include their expected use when choosing data.
What should I save offline before remote parts of Brazil?
Save the exact park or island map, transfer instructions, tickets, accommodation contact and return details before leaving a connected town. If data stops, check that Horizon is enabled for mobile data, data roaming is on for that line, the plan is valid and data remains. More allowance does not extend physical coverage, so keep essential information offline.
