Horizon now sells a Latin America eSIM with one shared allowance across ten named countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador and Uruguay. On a Mexico–Costa Rica–El Salvador route, one regional profile can stay installed. Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama are outside that list, so the product boundary still matters at those borders.
Why one strip of land reads as one product
Between the Yucatán and the Colombian border the land never stops, and neither does the language we use about it. Flight search groups the whole strip under one heading, and tour operators sell three countries as a single holiday. Buses really do cross a national line in an afternoon, and someone who spent the morning in Guatemalan highlands and the evening in Mexican ones can be forgiven for expecting a phone to treat the day as one trip.
A country plan and a regional plan now solve different routes. Mexico-only travel points to the Mexico offer; a trip through included countries can use the exact list on the Latin America offer. Neighbouring geography adds nothing by itself. A destination must be written into the plan you choose.
Read the list, not the label
The method takes about a minute and works on any seller's page.
- Write the route as country names, including short stops.
- Open the Latin America plan and read its ten destinations.
- Choose a country plan when every data day stays in that country.
- Choose the regional option when the route crosses included countries on the same trip.
- For an excluded country, arrange separate connectivity or save the essential details offline before the border.
Validity is bought for a period, not divided into a fresh clock per country. Once the regional profile makes its first successful connection in an included destination, that purchased period is running across the rest of the itinerary.
What the catalogue lists today, and what it does not

That regional list is exact: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador and Uruguay. It does not include Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua or Panama.

A Yucatán trip with a day in Belize
A day in Belize is outside both a Mexico country plan and Horizon’s Latin America list. The regional profile can cover the Mexico part of the trip, but it cannot turn the road below Chetumal or the Belize border into an included stop.
Before crossing, save the return time, meeting point and accommodation address, and arrange separate connectivity if you need live data in Belize. Do not rely on a regional label; Belize is absent from the written destination list.
Once the Mexico or regional profile has connected successfully in Mexico, its purchased validity keeps running during the excursion. You do not reinstall it for the return; select the same data line again when you are back in an included destination.
Costa Rica and Panama: one included, one excluded
A route from San José, La Fortuna or Monteverde toward Bocas del Toro or Panama City still crosses a real product boundary. Costa Rica is in Horizon’s Latin America plan; Panama is not.
Use the same regional profile for Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador if those are your stops. Before continuing into Panama, arrange a Panama country option or prepare to rely on offline details and available Wi-Fi. The regional allowance does not follow you across that excluded border.
Overland from Guatemala into Mexico
The route north is the other one worth planning at the table. Highland travellers cross at La Mesilla into Ciudad Cuauhtémoc and carry on toward San Cristóbal; anyone joining Flores to Palenque takes the river instead, on the Usumacinta at Frontera Corozal. Both are long days out of short maps: Antigua sits roughly 39 kilometres from Guatemala City and still costs an hour or more of mountain highway.
Install the Mexico country profile or Latin America profile over dependable Wi-Fi before the border day. Guatemala is outside the regional list, so keep the Mexican arrival address and crossing details offline while you are still there.
Tip: Installation itself does not spend the purchased validity. The first successful connection in Mexico starts it. Panama City as a connection rather than a country
Plenty of itineraries touch Panama only in transit. The airport sits about 24 kilometres east of the city, half an hour to forty-five minutes away depending on traffic. If the layover stays inside the terminal, there may be nothing here worth buying: decide by whether you come out through immigration, not by whether the aircraft lands.
If you leave the terminal, decide from the live Panama country options and the time you will actually spend online. Panama is not in the Latin America plan, so a regional profile that worked in Mexico, Costa Rica or El Salvador will not supply data for that stop.
Short answers
Is there one eSIM for Mexico and all of Central America? Not for the whole region. Horizon’s Latin America plan includes Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador, but excludes Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
Does a Mexico country plan reach Guatemala or Belize? No. The country plan lists Mexico only, and neither Guatemala nor Belize appears in the Latin America plan.
Can Costa Rica and Panama share the regional profile? Costa Rica can use it; Panama cannot. Arrange separate connectivity for Panama before crossing.
What if my route touches four countries? Write down all four and compare them with the exact ten-country list. One regional profile can cover every included stop; each excluded stop needs its own plan or offline preparation.
What actually decides where my allowance applies? The list of destinations printed on whatever you bought, every time. Nothing along this stretch of map is included for being next door.
