Latin America eSIM for the next border

From a city arrival to the next country on your itinerary, keep one travel eSIM installed. Choose a Latin America data plan for your route, with current prices, allowances and coverage shown above.

A morning in Buenos Aires can become an afternoon in Colonia del Sacramento. At Iguazú, seeing the falls from the other side means entering another country. A longer journey might connect Mexico City, Bogotá and Lima by air. Horizon’s Latin America eSIM keeps those changes of destination on one data profile, so you can look up the next bus, message your host or find your accommodation after arrival. Start with the country list below and match it to your actual stops, including side trips. The package covers selected destinations across the region; a route through all of Central or South America needs a closer look.

How eSIM works in Latin America

Set up your Latin America eSIM over reliable Wi-Fi before leaving home. Check that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM, then follow the installation instructions in your order. Leave the travel line off until you reach your first included destination. Select Horizon for mobile data and turn on roaming for that line: its first successful connection to a supported network starts the purchased validity. Keep the profile installed for later borders and flights. Turn off data roaming and automatic data switching on your home line, and save arrival addresses and onward tickets offline.

Size it to your trip

Pick the profile closest to your trip. The estimate assumes normal use — maps, messaging, photos, a short call home.

As a rule of thumb, a 3–4 day city break runs on about 1–3 GB, a one-week trip on 3–5 GB, a two-week multi-country tour on 8–12 GB, and working on the road takes about 1 GB a day, so 15 GB or more for two weeks.

In total, a 20 GB data allowance covers roughly 6,700 shared photos, 333 hours of social media and browsing, 59 hours of video calls, 250 hours of music streaming, or about 4000 hours of maps and navigation. Messaging apps barely use data.

Staying three weeks to a month, or using data heavily every day? That is the trip the 20 GB plan is priced for.

Why Horizon

Spend your arrival choosing where to go

Airport transfers, a last-minute room change and a message to family all draw from the same regional allowance. You do not need another installation for each included country, and crossing a border does not reset the data or expiry date. Compare the full trip’s data needs with the options in the picker. Save video uploads and large downloads for Wi-Fi if you want more of your allowance available between stops. Staying in just one country? Compare its local plan alongside the regional option before buying.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries does the Latin America eSIM cover?

Horizon’s Latin America eSIM covers 10 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador, Uruguay. This is one regional data package across the listed destinations. Check the selected plan’s live coverage list before paying, especially if your itinerary includes a short border crossing or a stopover.

Does it include all of South America, Central America and the Caribbean?

No. Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador are included, but Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama are not. In South America, Bolivia, Paraguay and Venezuela are outside this package. Caribbean islands are not included either. For a side trip to one of those destinations, compare a separate plan that names it; a nearby border does not extend your coverage.

Can I use it on both sides of Iguazú or in Chile and Argentina?

Yes. Argentina and Brazil are included for an Iguazú trip, and Chile and Argentina are included for a journey through Patagonia. Keep the same eSIM installed while your phone registers on a supported network in the next country. Nearby Paraguay is excluded. National coverage does not guarantee reception along every trail or road: download maps and bookings before remote Patagonia or Andes sections.

How much data should I choose for a multi-country trip?

Count the whole journey, including the travel days between countries. Maps, messages and checking reservations need less data than video calls, streaming or laptop use. Compare the current allowances and validity periods above with your habits, and choose a duration that reaches your final stop. The allowance is shared across included destinations; it does not renew when you cross a border.

When does my Latin America plan start?

Installation over Wi-Fi can be done before departure. Keep the Horizon line switched off until your first included destination, then choose it for mobile data and enable roaming on that line. The first successful connection to a supported network activates the package and starts its validity. There is no separate manual activation step; check the package details for any first-use deadline.

Can I use WhatsApp, keep my number and share data?

This is a data-only travel plan. WhatsApp messages and internet calls use its data allowance; ordinary calls and SMS are not included. On a compatible dual-line phone, you can keep your home SIM available, subject to your operator’s roaming charges. Hotspot sharing is free with this plan. Enable it on a compatible phone and budget for the extra data used by connected devices.
