Choose Macao eSIM data for a peninsula stay, a Taipa arrival or appointments in Cotai. Check your arrival terminal and the named coverage destinations, particularly if the trip also includes Hong Kong or mainland China.
Macao is small on the map but has several distinct arrival points. The international airport and Taipa ferry terminal serve the Taipa side; the Outer Harbour ferry terminal serves the peninsula. A land arrival from Zhuhai or the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge brings another boundary facility into the plan. Within Macao, the peninsula, Taipa, Cotai and Coloane are useful area labels rather than four separate cities. Keeping the terminal and hotel entrance straight matters more than having one general Macao pin.

Check eSIM availability for your exact handset model and sales region before buying; a familiar model name alone may not settle compatibility. Install the profile over Wi-Fi before your Macao flight, ferry or land transfer. At Macao arrival, choose the Horizon line for mobile data and enable roaming for that line using the supplied setup steps. Installing the profile does not start the validity period; it starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in Macao. Have the lodging name and address in Chinese as well as English saved for the onward journey.

Pick the profile closest to your trip. The estimate assumes normal use — maps, messaging, photos, a short call home.
As a rule of thumb, a 3–4 day city break runs on about 1–3 GB, a one-week trip on 3–5 GB, a two-week multi-country tour on 8–12 GB, and working on the road takes about 1 GB a day, so 15 GB or more for two weeks.
In total, a 3 GB data allowance covers roughly 1,000 shared photos, 50 hours of social media and browsing, 8.8 hours of video calls, 38 hours of music streaming, or about 600 hours of maps and navigation. Messaging apps barely use data.
Macao Peninsula · City guide
The peninsula contains Senado Square and the streets around the Ruins of St Paul's, alongside everyday offices and residential districts. If you arrive at the Outer Harbour terminal, save that terminal rather than the one in Taipa. Narrow streets and large buildings can make an exact entrance pin useful even on a short walk.
Macao Peninsula eSIM — set up before you flyTaipa · City guide
Taipa includes the international airport area and Taipa Village, but those are different onward destinations. Confirm whether a hotel transfer meets you at the airport or at the ferry terminal. Keep the accommodation's Chinese name available in case the transport display uses a different language from your booking.
Taipa eSIM — set up before you flyCotai · City guide
Cotai is the reclaimed area between Taipa and Coloane, with major hotel and convention complexes. An event venue may be connected to a hotel while using a different entrance. Save the actual registration point and pickup lobby, as indoor reception and navigation can differ from what works outside.
Cotai eSIM — set up before you flyColoane · City guide
Coloane includes a village centre and coastal areas such as Hac Sá. A trip here needs a return stop as well as an outward route, particularly if you are collecting luggage elsewhere before departure. Reception may vary around hills, indoors and along the less built-up coast.
Coloane eSIM — set up before you flyWhy Horizon
A Macao stay may be one part of a wider Pearl River Delta journey. Size the allowance for maps, messaging, event documents and any shared laptop, and count the days actually spent in Macao. The plans are data-only; dense buildings, indoor spaces and the handset affect the connection. Hong Kong and mainland China are separate catalogue destinations. A Macao country plan does not cover the Hong Kong airport leg or the time spent across the boundary in Zhuhai.

No. Hong Kong and mainland China need separately listed coverage, and Zhuhai is in mainland China. Check each leg rather than assuming a short ferry ride or a shared bridge makes it part of a Macao country allowance.
Use the exact terminal on your ticket. The Outer Harbour terminal is on the peninsula, while Taipa ferry terminal is on the Taipa side. Send that name to your driver and check the return ticket independently.
Installation over Wi-Fi can be completed before reaching Macao on a compatible, unlocked device. It does not give a Macao-only plan Hong Kong data coverage. Save the ferry or bridge-transfer instructions before leaving your existing connection.
Often a more precise instruction is useful. Large complexes can have several lobbies, entrances and transport areas. Ask the organiser for the designated entrance and keep its map with the booking or registration reference.
Check the exact model and its sales region against the manufacturer's eSIM guidance, and confirm it is carrier-unlocked. Hardware sold under a similar model name can have different SIM capabilities; the destination itself does not change the handset's support.
Hotspot sharing is free on every Horizon plan. Sharing requires a compatible phone and correct settings, and the laptop draws from your phone's plan allowance. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. Indoor reception still needs to be assessed where you are working.
It supplies mobile data and no local number. Keep the hotel's internet contact method and full address in advance, including its Chinese name, rather than expecting the travel profile to provide a number for local contact forms.
No. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. There is no daily limit that slows you down, so you can use your whole plan in one day if you need to. Your speed depends on the local network, your signal and how busy the network is. When your data allowance is used up, the plan stops rather than slowing down.
