Arrange an Upolu pickup, share family updates from Apia and keep your Savai‘i accommodation details handy with a Samoa data-only eSIM. Village location, coastal terrain and your device affect mobile reception.
Samoa's two main islands are Upolu and Savai‘i, with Apia on Upolu's north coast. International arrivals usually begin on western Upolu, while the ferry connection to Savai‘i starts at Mulifanua. That makes the first night's location worth settling before departure: an Apia stay, a south-coast fale and an onward ferry each send you in a different direction. Family gatherings often involve several households, so save the village name and your host's directions as well as a map pin.

Install on an unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone using Wi-Fi before the flight. Faleolo International Airport is west of Apia; keep the name of the person meeting you and whether you are heading towards town or the ferry. Once in Samoa, switch on the travel line, choose it for mobile data and enable its data roaming as instructed. Installing the profile does not start the validity period; it starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in Samoa. Download the next island's booking before you reach the wharf.

Pick the profile closest to your trip. The estimate assumes normal use — maps, messaging, photos, a short call home.
As a rule of thumb, a 3–4 day city break runs on about 1–3 GB, a one-week trip on 3–5 GB, a two-week multi-country tour on 8–12 GB, and working on the road takes about 1 GB a day, so 15 GB or more for two weeks.
In total, a 3 GB data allowance covers roughly 1,000 shared photos, 50 hours of social media and browsing, 8.8 hours of video calls, 38 hours of music streaming, or about 600 hours of maps and navigation. Messaging apps barely use data.
Apia · City guide
Apia is a practical place to organise a visit that includes relatives, appointments and onward transport. The waterfront and market area are useful landmarks, but a home or guesthouse may need more detailed directions. Send changes to your host when data is available and keep those directions saved for the final approach.
Apia eSIM — set up before you flyMulifanua · City guide
Mulifanua is on western Upolu, near the international airport area rather than central Apia. Confirm which sailing, vehicle arrangement and check-in instructions apply to your booking. A stored ticket and the name of the arriving wharf matter more during the crossing than a live map of open water.
Mulifanua eSIM — set up before you flySalelologa · City guide
Salelologa is the arrival point on Savai‘i for the main inter-island ferry route. An onward stay may be much farther around the island than the harbour area suggests. Agree whether a relative, accommodation host or driver is collecting you, and save that person's instructions before boarding on Upolu.
Salelologa eSIM — set up before you flyLalomanu · City guide
Lalomanu is on a different part of Upolu from Apia and Faleolo. A transfer can pass through villages and sections of coast where reception varies. Keep the accommodation's directions and meal or arrival arrangements offline, and ask permission locally before entering village land or taking photographs of people.
Lalomanu eSIM — set up before you flyWhy Horizon
Match the available data to the messages, navigation checks and uploads you expect on both islands. A family visit with several days away from accommodation Wi-Fi can use the allowance differently from an Apia work stop. Horizon includes free personal hotspot sharing, so a compatible handset can share that same data with a companion. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. Save photo backups for Wi-Fi if you need the fixed allowance to last through the return to Faleolo, and check that validity includes that departure day.

No. American Samoa is a separate US territory, including Tutuila and Pago Pago. A Samoa country plan does not include it. Check onward flight arrangements, entry requirements and data coverage as separate parts of that journey.
Faleolo International Airport is on western Upolu, outside Apia. Give your driver the actual first destination: the capital, the ferry wharf or a coastal village. Keep the agreed collection point readable without internet access.
Both islands belong to Samoa, so an inter-island trip does not cross into another country. That does not guarantee reception in every village or along every road. Compare the plan's validity with the full stay across both islands.
Treat the crossing as a period when land-network reception may be unavailable. Download your booking, the Savai‘i lodging details and the pickup arrangement beforehand so that arrival does not depend on opening an online message.
Ask the host for the village name, a recognisable nearby landmark and the final approach instructions. Save the conversation or write it down. A general island map can be useful without identifying the right household entrance.
Arrange important uploads around a confirmed connection at your accommodation or workplace. Reception can differ around the island and on inland roads. Download documents first and agree with colleagues how to handle a missed online check-in.
This is a data-only profile with no ordinary calls, SMS or local telephone number. Internet messaging needs a working connection, so agree with a ferry pickup contact how you will find each other if data is unavailable.
No. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. There is no daily limit that slows you down, so you can use your whole plan in one day if you need to. Your speed depends on the local network, your signal and how busy the network is. When your data allowance is used up, the plan stops rather than slowing down.
