Switzerland is not in the EU or the EEA, so the EU's roam-like-at-home rules do not apply there, even if your home SIM works at home prices in France or Italy. Check what your own plan charges in Switzerland first; if data is expensive or excluded, compare the matched 5 GB and 10 GB, 30-day prices below.
Prices checked 1 October 2026. Horizon includes instant support and free hotspot sharing; current prices and availability are on the linked plan pages.
Matched fixed-data prices
- Horizon: 5 GB / 30 days €2.54; 10 GB / 30 days €4.91.
- Nomad: 5 GB / 30 days €10.97; 10 GB / 30 days €17.98.
- Saily: 5 GB / 30 days €12.49; 10 GB / 30 days €20.49.
- Airalo: 5 GB / 30 days €13.00; 10 GB / 30 days €21.00.
- Ubigi: no one-off 5 GB / 30-day plan (5 GB is a monthly subscription); 10 GB / 30 days €11.00.
Horizon has the lowest price among the fixed-data offers above for both allowances. At 5 GB / 30 days, Nomad's €10.97 is the next-lowest price, €8.43 above Horizon's €2.54; Airalo's €13.00 is €10.46 above it. At 10 GB / 30 days, Ubigi's €11.00 is next, €6.09 above Horizon's €4.91, and Airalo's €21.00 is €16.09 above it. This is a comparison of the displayed package totals; it does not establish better signal or identical coverage.
Switzerland is outside EU roaming
Roam-like-at-home covers EU and EEA SIM cards in EU and EEA countries, subject to fair-use limits set by the home operator. Many EU plans charge roaming in Switzerland or place it in a separate zone, while some operators include it voluntarily, so check your own tariff.
A Switzerland eSIM suits:
- EU and EEA travellers whose plan charges for Switzerland or leaves it out.
- Travellers from outside the EU and EEA, for example on UK plans with daily roaming fees or plans from the Western Balkans, Turkey, the Middle East or North America.
- Anyone whose roaming allowance is small for daily maps, rail apps and photos.
See Is Switzerland in EU roaming? for more detail. Liechtenstein is different: it is in the EEA, so EU roaming rules apply there, with the same fair-use limits.
Short visits: 7-day plans
Horizon's 7-day plans cost the same as its 30-day plans of the same size: 5 GB for 7 days at €2.54 and 10 GB for 7 days at €4.91. Airalo's 7-day plans cost €12.00 for 5 GB and €19.50 for 10 GB, and Ubigi lists 10 GB for 7 days at €9.00. Saily and Nomad listed no fixed 5 GB or 10 GB plan shorter than 30 days.
If a weekend in Zurich or Geneva might stretch, Horizon's 30-day plan gives more days for the same price.
Larger allowances: where the order changes
At 20 GB / 30 days, Horizon lists €9.62, against €21.93 at Nomad, €32.50 at Airalo and €32.99 at Saily. Ubigi's nearest one-off size is 25 GB / 30 days at €24.00.
At 50 GB / 30 days, Horizon lists €23.81, against €34.00 at Ubigi, €37.72 at Nomad and €41.00 at Airalo. Horizon's 50 GB plan for 180 days costs the same €23.81 and suits a winter season.
The runner-up changes with size: Nomad at 5 GB and 20 GB, Ubigi at 10 GB and 50 GB. Horizon has no unlimited Switzerland plan; see below.
Trains, tunnels and ski days
Swiss trips often mean long rail journeys, mountain railways and cable cars. Signal can drop in long tunnels, deep valleys and on high passes, whichever provider you use, so save offline maps, tickets and your hotel address first. Country coverage is not a guarantee of signal on every line or slope.
Ski days add piste maps, lift and weather apps, group messages and photo uploads, and cold can shorten battery life, so carry a power bank.
Published networks for Switzerland
Horizon's Switzerland plans list Sunrise and Salt. Nomad and Ubigi also name Salt and Sunrise, Airalo names Sunrise, and Holafly lists Salt, Sunrise and Swisscom. Saily's page named no network when we checked. These are provider-published network details, not field tests of a valley, train line or resort.
Hotspot and unlimited data are separate questions
All Horizon plans include free hotspot sharing. A laptop or tablet on your hotspot draws on the same purchased allowance.
Holafly's Switzerland product page published a 7-day unlimited plan at US$27.50 in its USD duration table and specifies 1 GB per day for hotspot sharing. Nomad lists a 7-day unlimited plan at €21.93 and Airalo at €23.00. These differ from the fixed 30-day offers above, so we calculate no saving against them. Unlimited handset data may suit heavy phone use; it does not always mean unlimited tethering, so check the hotspot terms.
Switzerland with Italy, France, Germany or Austria
Horizon's Switzerland plan works only in Switzerland and does not list Liechtenstein, yet Geneva, Basel and Lugano all sit close to a border.
Horizon's Europe plan lists Switzerland and Liechtenstein alongside Italy, France, Germany and Austria, and shares one allowance across the countries it lists: 5 GB / 30 days at €3.72 or 10 GB / 30 days at €7.27. Two country plans, such as Switzerland 5 GB at €2.54 and Italy 5 GB at €2.45, cost €4.99 together, but they are two separate allowances rather than one pooled 10 GB. The Europe plan buys flexibility, not a lower price.
If your EU or EEA plan already covers Italy or France at home prices, you may only need data for the Swiss days. For a day trip to Vaduz, Horizon also sells a Liechtenstein plan. See the Italy, France and longer Europe trip comparisons.
Instant support with your Horizon plan
Horizon includes instant support for setup and connection questions. Use Horizon support if you need help installing the eSIM, selecting it for mobile data or understanding the plan before you travel.
Before buying, check device compatibility and that your phone is unlocked, then review the live Switzerland plans for the current price and coverage.
How the prices were checked
This is a Horizon-authored comparison. Research date: 1 October 2026. Editorial owner: Lurian Kasumaj. Fixed-plan prices are public quotes from the providers' own product pages, with the same total data and 30-day validity unless stated: in EUR for Horizon, Saily and Airalo, and for Nomad and Ubigi with their currency selectors set to EUR. Nomad's page showed US dollars by default for our connection; we used the euro prices its own selector displays. Holafly's unlimited plan is quoted from its USD duration table. Nothing was converted, and no sale label was shown on any quoted plan.
Account rewards such as Saily credits, subscriptions, affiliate coupons, free trials and first-order discounts are excluded. Prices can change after this check; the linked product page and checkout take precedence. This research compares published offers and features, not measured network performance or support response times.
