Compare French Polynesia eSIM data for Papeete, a Moorea crossing, a Bora Bora stay or an arranged Tuamotu visit. Choose validity for the full island sequence and confirm support for the islands you will actually use, rather than assuming every atoll has reception.
French Polynesia covers widely separated Pacific archipelagos. Tahiti and Moorea are nearby islands in the Society group; Bora Bora needs another journey, while a Tuamotu atoll or a Marquesas visit changes the itinerary again. International arrival on Tahiti is only the beginning when a domestic flight or boat follows. Keep the hotel name, island and arrival point together: a resort transfer from a motu is different from a taxi from a town airport. Mobile reception can vary sharply between populated centres, mountain valleys, outer islands and open water.

Install on an unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone using Wi-Fi before the long-haul journey. Save the arrival instructions for Tahiti's Faa'a International Airport and any onward domestic booking on the handset. Once in French Polynesia, select the Horizon line for mobile data and enable roaming for it, with home-line data switching disabled. Installing the profile does not start the validity period; it starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in French Polynesia. The plan is data-only; supported islands, local network conditions and your device determine the connection.

Pick the profile closest to your trip. The estimate assumes normal use — maps, messaging, photos, a short call home.
As a rule of thumb, a 3–4 day city break runs on about 1–3 GB, a one-week trip on 3–5 GB, a two-week multi-country tour on 8–12 GB, and working on the road takes about 1 GB a day, so 15 GB or more for two weeks.
In total, a 25.6 GB data allowance covers roughly 8,500 shared photos, 427 hours of social media and browsing, 75 hours of video calls, 320 hours of music streaming, or about 5120 hours of maps and navigation. Messaging apps barely use data.
Papeete · City guide
Papeete is the capital and port on Tahiti, with the international airport in neighbouring Faa'a. A short Tahiti stay often contains practical tasks: meeting a host, checking a domestic flight or locating the Moorea ferry departure. Save the exact terminal and your accommodation entrance, since a booking labelled Tahiti may involve places beyond central Papeete.
Papeete eSIM — set up before you flyMoorea · City guide
Moorea lies west of Tahiti, and its ferry arrival at Vaiare is not the same place as a hotel around Cook's Bay or Opunohu Bay. Plan the onward road transfer with the crossing rather than leaving it until disembarkation. Mountain interiors and bays have different reception conditions, so keep walking routes and accommodation instructions available without mobile data.
Moorea eSIM — set up before you flyBora Bora · City guide
Bora Bora's airport is on Motu Mute, separate from the main island and many places to stay. Vaitape is a town reference, but your accommodation may arrange a different boat pickup. Confirm who meets the arriving flight and where the boat goes before leaving Tahiti, and retain the instructions offline for the water transfer.
Bora Bora eSIM — set up before you flyTuamotu Islands · City guide
The Tuamotus are an archipelago rather than a single island stop. On Rangiroa or Fakarava, the airstrip, guesthouse and boat departure may be separated by road or lagoon. Check the specific island and location with current coverage information before buying, then store the host's instructions; inclusion of French Polynesia does not prove service on every motu or lagoon excursion.
Tuamotu Islands eSIM — set up before you flyWhy Horizon
A plan that fits a resort stay may be too short once Tahiti arrival and departure nights are included. Count the entire sequence, then estimate photo transfers and any shared device alongside everyday messages. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. Horizon includes free personal hotspot sharing on a compatible handset during your French Polynesia stay, with the connected laptop using the same allowance. Save larger uploads for a suitable connection and keep tickets offline for journeys where land networks fall out of reach. France, New Caledonia and the Cook Islands are separate coverage questions despite the familiar names or Pacific geography.

No. Treat French Polynesia as its own destination and read the actual plan list. A mainland France label does not establish coverage on Tahiti, and this country plan should not be assumed to include mainland France or other French Pacific territories.
No. Confirm the particular islands and locations against current supported coverage, especially in the Tuamotus, Marquesas or other outer groups. A territory listing is not a guarantee for every atoll, motu, mountain valley or stretch of lagoon.
Keep the sailing confirmation, departure terminal, Vaiare arrival details and the ride to your Moorea accommodation available offline. Ask the transport operator for current boarding instructions, and send essential updates before boarding when you have a connection.
The airport is on Motu Mute. The next step depends on your accommodation's location and transfer arrangement, so obtain the actual meeting point and host details rather than assuming a road taxi can take you directly from the airport to every hotel.
For laptop use in Papeete, Horizon includes free personal hotspot sharing on compatible devices. Include email attachments, cloud syncing and other laptop activity in the same allowance used by the phone, and check the connection before making a meeting depend on it.
Those are separate destinations and are not included by a French Polynesia country plan. Check any additional stop against the offer's destination list, including time spent outside an airport during a long-haul transit.
Land-network reception may disappear away from settlements or between islands. Save the excursion meeting point, return arrangements and accommodation contact before departure, and use the organiser's agreed communication arrangements instead of depending on the phone throughout the outing.
No. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. There is no daily limit that slows you down, so you can use your whole plan in one day if you need to. Your speed depends on the local network, your signal and how busy the network is. When your data allowance is used up, the plan stops rather than slowing down.
