A Slovenia eSIM is a prepaid mobile-data plan for your trip. Install it on a compatible, carrier-unlocked phone before departure, then select it as your data line within the plan's coverage area.
A Slovenia eSIM is a data-only SIM that loads onto your phone digitally, so there is no plastic card to swap. Land at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport and it connects you to local networks Telekom and Telemach, both running 5G in the cities, the moment you switch it on. Step off the plane already online, skip the roaming charges, and let maps, ride apps and messaging work before you reach the carousel. Whether you are heading to the capital or straight to the lakes, you stay connected from arrival without hunting for a SIM kiosk or local store.

Choose a data plan for Slovenia, install the eSIM over reliable Wi-Fi before your trip, and follow the selected plan’s activation instructions. Your regular SIM can stay in your phone, while the eSIM gives you mobile data for travel apps, messaging, maps and browsing.

In total, a 5 GB data allowance covers roughly 1,700 shared photos, 83 hours of social media and browsing, 15 hours of video calls, 63 hours of music streaming, or about 1000 hours of maps and navigation. Messaging apps barely use data.
Important cities in Slovenia
Ljubljana · City guide
Ljubljana is made for wandering on foot, from the old town and the Triple Bridge up to the hilltop castle for the view. A Ljubljana eSIM keeps your maps live as you cross the bridges and settle into the Ljubljanica riverside cafes. Use mobile data to check opening times, find the castle path and share photos while you sip by the water, all without touching roaming.
Ljubljana eSIM — online before you land →Bled · City guide
Bled is the postcard everyone wants, with the island church floating on the lake and the cliff-top castle watching over it. A data plan for Bled means you can book a boat, look up walking routes around the water and post that alpine view in real time. Keep your phone connected as you explore the shoreline, though remember signal can dip in the higher, more remote alpine spots.
Bled eSIM — online before you land →Maribor · City guide
Maribor stretches along the Drava, home to the old vine and the lively Lent riverfront where the city gathers. A Maribor eSIM keeps you online as you stroll the waterfront and plan an outing up into the nearby Pohorje hills. Use mobile data to map the riverside walk, check the cable times up the hills and stay reachable, knowing coverage is strongest in the centre and can thin out the higher you climb.
Maribor eSIM — online before you land →Piran · City guide
Piran packs a Venetian old town and Tartini Square onto a slim point above the Adriatic seafront. A Piran eSIM lets you wander the narrow lanes without losing your way and check the tide before a swim. Use mobile data to find a seafront table, look up ferry and bus times and message the group where to meet, staying connected through the maze of streets down to the water.
Piran eSIM — online before you land →Why Horizon
An eSIM lets you skip costly roaming and have mobile data ready the second you land, which matters when family back home and group chats are waiting to hear you arrived safe. Set it up before you fly and you are online without a single trip to a shop.

It connects to Slovenia's main carriers, Telekom and Telemach, both of which run 5G in the cities and 4G more widely. Your phone picks the best available signal automatically, so you get fast data in the centres and solid 4G as you travel between towns.
Coverage is strong in city centres and along main routes, but it naturally varies in remote mountain areas and drops underground, such as inside the big caves. For day trips to the alps, the lakes or Triglav National Park, download your maps offline before you set out so you are not relying on signal in the high or remote spots.
This is a Slovenia-only plan, so it is best when your whole trip stays inside the country. If you are crossing into neighbouring countries on the same journey, a regional Balkan or Europe eSIM will cover several countries on one plan and save you swapping eSIMs at each border.
Install it at home on your normal Wi-Fi a day or two before you fly, then leave activation for when you arrive. That way your eSIM is ready to switch on the instant you reach Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, and you are online for ride apps and directions before you leave the terminal.
Most phones from the last few years are eSIM-ready and unlocked, which is all you need. Check your settings for an option to add an eSIM or mobile plan; if it is there, you are good to go. Your physical SIM stays in place, so you can run both at once.
Yes. The eSIM only carries data, so your regular number stays active on your usual SIM for calls and texts, while the eSIM handles internet. You can also share that data as a personal hotspot to a laptop or a travel companion's phone, handy on the train down to the coast.
