Greater Caribbean eSIM for island hops and the Guianas

Use one data plan across the listed Greater Caribbean islands and mainland destinations, including Jamaica, Curaçao, the Bahamas and the Guianas. Check every flight and cruise stop: Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Cuba, Mexico and Central America are excluded.

Greater Caribbean brings island hopping and trips to the Guianas onto one data plan. The Bahamas and Bermuda are Atlantic stops on the list, while Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana are on the South American mainland. It includes both Dominica and the Dominican Republic, along with French destinations such as Guadeloupe and Martinique and Dutch Caribbean destinations such as Aruba and Curaçao. The British Virgin Islands are included; the US Virgin Islands are excluded. Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico and Central America are also outside this plan. A regional heading cannot fill those gaps in an itinerary, so read the complete list in the coverage FAQ and check it against the selected offer before buying. One profile can follow the included land stops while the plan remains valid and has data; the sea passages between them need their own arrangements.

How eSIM works in Greater Caribbean

Install the eSIM over Wi-Fi while you can still open the setup instructions, and keep the Horizon line off until you need it at a covered destination. Installing the profile does not start the validity period; it starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in Barbados. This rule applies throughout the included countries and territories. At your first covered stop, switch the line on, select Horizon for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line; there is no separate manual activation step. The first successful connection begins the purchased validity period. Leave the profile installed for the next island or mainland stop and allow time for registration on a supported local network. Before a flight, ferry or cruise departure, save the next meeting point and booking offline. At sea, use airplane mode and turn Wi-Fi back on separately if you have the ship's Wi-Fi service.

Size it to your trip

Pick the profile closest to your trip. The estimate assumes normal use — maps, messaging, photos, a short call home.

As a rule of thumb, a 3–4 day city break runs on about 1–3 GB, a one-week trip on 3–5 GB, a two-week multi-country tour on 8–12 GB, and working on the road takes about 1 GB a day, so 15 GB or more for two weeks.

In total, a 1 GB data allowance covers roughly 330 shared photos, 17 hours of social media and browsing, 2.9 hours of video calls, 13 hours of music streaming, or about 200 hours of maps and navigation. Messaging apps barely use data.

Why Horizon

Follow the itinerary across islands and territories

A journey linking Barbados, Saint Lucia and Martinique crosses separate destinations even though the stops are close on a map. Greater Caribbean keeps the same data profile in use at those included stops, with one allowance to watch as you check arrival messages, port transfers and accommodation details. It can also cover the data part of a route through Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana; those are mainland destinations, so the package is useful beyond an island holiday. For a stay based entirely in Jamaica or the Bahamas, compare that destination's own plan. Choose validity for the whole route after first use, including sailing days, because a new port does not restart the clock. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. Reception still depends on the device, exact location and available partner network, particularly away from settlements and on small cays.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries and territories does Greater Caribbean include?

The complete coverage list is Anguilla; Antigua and Barbuda; Aruba; the Bahamas; Barbados; Bermuda; Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba; the British Virgin Islands; the Cayman Islands; Curaçao; Dominica; the Dominican Republic; French Guiana; Guadeloupe; Grenada; Guyana; Haiti; Jamaica; Martinique; Montserrat; Saint Barthélemy; Saint Kitts and Nevis; Saint Lucia; Saint Martin (French side); Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Sint Maarten (Dutch side); Suriname; Trinidad and Tobago; and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Cuba, Mexico and Central America are excluded, as is any destination absent from that list. Compare the selected offer's coverage with every stop on your itinerary before payment.

Will this plan cover my cruise from Florida or Puerto Rico?

Greater Caribbean covers supported land networks at its included destinations, such as the Bahamas, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Florida is in the United States, which this plan excludes, and Puerto Rico is also excluded. Arrange data separately for either departure point. The same applies to a call in Mexico or the US Virgin Islands. Shipboard Wi-Fi and maritime networks are separate services; do not rely on the eSIM during the sailing between ports. Download shore excursion details before leaving the ship and keep all phone lines from connecting to maritime networks by using airplane mode at sea.

Are the French and Dutch sides of Saint Martin both covered?

Yes. Saint Martin, the French side, and Sint Maarten, the Dutch side, are separate entries and both are included. The plan also lists Saint Barthélemy, Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana, plus Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. Inclusion comes from each named destination, rather than from a general rule about French or Dutch territories. Keep the same profile installed when moving between included places, but allow the handset time to register after a crossing. Dominica and the Dominican Republic are also different countries, and both appear in Greater Caribbean's coverage list.

When should I turn the eSIM on during an island-hopping trip?

Keep it off until the first included stop where you want to use the plan. Installing the profile does not start the validity period; it starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in Barbados. The same rule applies at any other included destination. Select Horizon for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line when you are ready; there is no separate manual activation step. After the first successful connection, the validity period continues through ferry days, sea days and time spent at excluded stops. Switching the line off does not pause it, and reaching another island does not renew the allowance.

Why does Greater Caribbean include Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana?

They are included mainland destinations in this particular package, even though they are not Caribbean islands. A route through Georgetown in Guyana, Paramaribo in Suriname and Cayenne in French Guiana can use the same plan at supported networks while its data and validity remain available. Bermuda and the Bahamas are Atlantic destinations that are also included. Read Greater Caribbean as this specific package's coverage list rather than as a geographical definition. Mexico, Central America and the other excluded stops do not become covered because they appear on a wider Caribbean itinerary.

Should I choose this regional plan or a plan for one island?

Compare a country or territory plan when the whole stay is in one destination, such as Barbados or Jamaica. Greater Caribbean is useful when several included destinations share the trip, because you keep one profile installed and use the plan's allowance across those stops. Compare data and duration for the complete journey. The regional eSIM is data-only and includes no phone number, ordinary calls or SMS. Hotspot sharing is free on every Horizon plan. Connected devices use the same allowance and need a compatible phone with the correct settings. If you keep your usual SIM active for calls or messages, its own operator's roaming charges may apply.

Will Horizon slow down my data?

No. Horizon fixed-data plans have no throttling. There is no daily limit that slows you down, so you can use your whole plan in one day if you need to. Your speed depends on the local network, your signal and how busy the network is. When your data allowance is used up, the plan stops rather than slowing down.

Can I get a refund if I already used some data?

Yes. We always refund the full amount you paid when you request it, whether your eSIM is unused, partly used or fully used. There is no time limit for requesting a refund.
